April 2019: ‘Economising the Offshore Arctic: Dynamic Marine Policies and Global Production Networks in a Thawing World’ (Durham)
In April 2019, the Resources subproject held its second workshop: ‘Economising the Offshore Arctic: Dynamic Marine Policies and Global Production Networks in a Thawing World'. Held at Durham University, the workshop was co-organised by Gavin Bridge of Durham University (Resources subproject leader) and Berit Kristoffersen of UIT - The Arctic University of Norway.
The workshop brought forward discussions from the first workshop held in May 2017, 'Anticipating Abundance', and centred around the development of a grant proposal on oil and gas exploration in the Barents Sea. Following successful discussions, the proposal is currently under preparation for submission for research council funding.
In addition to the co-organisers, participants included Jessica Lehman (Durham), Philip Steinberg (Durham), Kirsti Stuvøy (NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences), and Maria Tysiachniouk (Centre for Independent Social Research, St. Petersburg), and Elana Wilson Rowe (NUPI - Norwegian Institute of International Affairs).
